Copying the Hymns: We Three Kings of Orient Are – Traditional ZB Style Manuscript Level 1

Copying the Hymns is a series of copywork books focused on building Christian devotion. Available in a wide range of font styles and three progressive levels, each copywork book includes the full text of a classic hymn of the faith, and focal passages of scripture (KJV) that highlight the spiritual themes of the hymn.  Help your children develop a strong spiritual foundation while practicing printing and handwriting skills.

Copying the Hymns: We Three Kings of Orient Are – Traditional ZB Style Manuscript, Level 1 uses “We Three Kings” written by John H. Hopkins Jr. in 1857 as it’s hymn selection.  This well-loved hymn associated with the incarnation of our Savior provides much opportunity for reflection upon the hope of salvation that He brought into the world.  His Kingship, His light, and His majesty.

Level 1 features line spacing of 5/8”, a traditional-style Zaner Bloser manuscript font, and is appropriate for beginners who have learned to form their letters (mastery is not required), and are working with larger letters.  One sentence, verse or line is generally presented per lesson.  13 lessons are included: two introductory and one closing (from the KJV) which illuminate the themes of the hymn, and ten which present the entire lyrics of “We Three Kings” laid out in an easy to copy format for young copyists.

Quick reference charts with numbers and arrows are provided for upper case, lower case, and numerals for children to use as they work on their lessons. Decorative illustrations are included and may be colored if desired. Space for free-form drawings is also provided to encourage creativity, they appear as empty ‘frames’ throughout the book. Blank template pages for additional writing and drawing space are provided in the appendix.

This is a stand-alone title, and requires no other accompanying resources, though listening to the hymn will provide additional depth and understanding.
